15 Reasons Why Monica Geller Is An Unappreciated Character

1: Fed all of her friends almost every day for ten years without complaining.

2: Excelled in a traditionally masculine career, (yes, cookery as a profession is generally male-dominated) and in traditionally masculine hobbies (football), without compromising her femininity or sexuality.

3: At the same time, revelled in traditionally female interests such as babies, marriage and housework without apologizing for them, or suggesting they made her inferior or weak.

4: Overcame teenage obesity.

5: Grew up in an emotionally abusive home, with a mother who subjected her to relentless criticism and verbal mistreatment….But still emerged with a sense of her own self-worth, determination to fulfil her dreams and huge capacity to care for others.

6: Stayed friends with her brother who bullied her as a child, and contributed to said-emotionally abusive home. Didn’t blame him for her mistreatment or show resentment towards him.

7: Took former best friend – who abandoned and rejected her for a ‘high society’ life – into her home without question.

8: Prior to this, accepted a woman who had previously lived on the streets, as her roommate and welcomed her into her group of friends.

9: Went through unemployment and shitty jobs, but refused to take unfair advantages she hadn’t earned (i.e. Pete buying her a restaurant). Eventually gained a prestigious head chef position based entirely on her own merit.

10: Walked away from the man she thought was the love of her life, because she wanted children and he’d only have them to make her happy. Even though that option would have been 100 times less painful for Monica, she knew that wasn’t fair on him and refused.

11: After marrying the actual love of her life, she waited until Chandler was ready to have kids, because she knew about his fears of raising children. When they discovered virtually the only option for children was sperm donor-ship (so they’d be her kids but not his), she refused and insisted on adoption. 

12: Was also the one-woman cheerleading team for the aforementioned love of her life, in telling him he could be the amazing boyfriend, husband and father that he never saw in himself. Was proved 100% right.

13: Resisted her control-freak coping mechanisms to give Chandler the power of making the big decisions about their future, (saying ‘I Love you’, moving in together, marriage), so he could work through his commitment phobia. Again, proved it was 100% worth it.

14: Encouraged her husband to quit a job he hated, then supported him – financially and emotionally –through his subsequent unemployment and helped him find his dream career.

15: Never, ever fucking gives up on anything or anyone.

there’s the dazzler she’s like a popstar and a superhero do you know how many 4-12 year old girls would dig that shit

there’s the wasp and her superpowers are seriously like zapping jerks, flying, and being cuter than everybody else. also she’s a famous fashion designer. and she’s better than you. (like she shrinks and stuff too but mainly her power is being better than you)

she-hulk is like this nerdy chick with the power to get bigger and greener and be spontaneously tougher than everybody in the vicinity like I don’t even know a little girl who wouldn’t slit someone’s throat for the ability to be stronger than all the boys when they pissed her off

My point is that’s it’s so fucking easy so chop-chop, Marvel, get on it. Seriously, I went ten years of my life thinking superheroes were boys. That’s ten years of you not profiting off of my inability to refrain from buying even the crappiest merchandise you offer if it has a character I love on it. Little girls are an enormous market; they will buy all your shit if you just suggest to them that maybe they’d like to.

or you could just keep on not profiting when you could be making money selling literally any object that has enough space to plaster a female superhero’s face on it. that’s cool too.

• they figured out how to use the Marauder’s Map during their first year
  
• they both received good marks in their first few years at Hogwarts
  
• they drove their dad’s flying car without any training
  
• they knew how to pick a lock using Muggle methods
• they actually memorized the entire Marauder’s Map by their fifth year
  
• they correctly predicted the outcome of the Quidditch World Cup
  
• they made a successful aging potion so they could put their names in the Goblet of Fire (of course, Dumbledore had the age line which knew they weren’t of age, but their aging potion was a success regardless)

• they invented a great load of things for their business (which takes time, intelligence, and money)
  
• found a way to disguise their products so they could be delivered to Hogwarts students
• they passed their Apparition tests “with distinction”
  
• they knew what the Vanishing Cabinet was and shoved Montague in it, knowing he wouldn’t come out for weeks
  
• they turned corridors at Hogwarts into swamps
  
• helped to keep Potterwatch going

Kind

• tried to send Harry a toilet seat when he was in the hospital wing after fighting Quirrell and Voldemort
  
• tried to keep the rogue bludger away from Harry in his second year
• they rescued Harry from his abusive home before his second year at Hogwarts
  
• didn’t take the rumors that Harry was the Heir of Slytherin seriously
  
• both of them were ready to attack Malfoy when he called Hermione a “mudblood”
  
• decided to give the Marauder’s Map to Harry because his “needs are greater than ours”
